2017 Malbec Rosé
The 2017 Ladera Rosé is crafted from 100% Malbec, sourced exclusively from the Stagecoach Vineyard on Atlas Peak and farmed intentionally for our Rosé production. Perched on the edge of a canyon with elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,700 feet, the vines produce intensely flavored wines with classic mountain characteristics, heightened fruit expression and impeccable balance.
Harvested on September 4th, 2017.
The 2017 Ladera Rosé is crafted in the traditional vin gris style. To preserve the delicate fruit aromas, flavors and color, the grapes were harvested in the cool hours of the night, then whole cluster pressed with limited maceration time. The fresh, sparkling pink juice was cold settled for 24 hours then racked clean to stainless steel (79%) and neutral oak barrels (21%) to undergo fermentation. The wine was aged sur-lies and stirred routinely to create a long, rich and complex palate.
Deep salmon in color, the 2017 Ladera Rosé displays an alluring bouquet of ripe peach, wild strawberry, watermelon and orange zest with fragrant bursts of rose petal. The flavorful palate is soft and supple, layered with strawberries, fresh cream and a mouth-watering acidity – a perfect summer companion.
